A 28 years old lady, Esther Afrifa who poured acid on her love interest, 29-year-old Kelvin Pogo at their home in Wembley, north London, on December 22, 2019, who has been in prison for quite sometime now has been sentenced to 14 years imprisonment by Judge Charles Bourne QC.
According to report, Afrifa assumed kelvin was having an affair with his coursemate and her method of punishing him was to doused him with sulphuric acid she purchased online.
On the day of the incident, she kept the bottle of acid by the bed side and subsequently poured the acid on his chest while he was asleep and later on his face and body when he was resting on the sofa, nursing the pain from the first assault.
From the start, he didn't have any idea that his lover was the attacker as he was fast asleep when she first poured the acid on his chest and requested that she help him get medical help. Afrifa pretended to call 999, then obstructed Kelvins’ friends from reaching him on the phone, and proceeded to stop a taxi that was suppose to take him to the hospital.
Mr Kelvin Pogo, who moved to Britain to concentrate on film, was left with mental injury and long-lasting scar to his chest, face, eyes, and head. He said Afrifa also attempted to make him drink acid from a bottle she claimed contained water and he declined because he doesn’t drink tap tap water since he was a child.
