Paul Kehinde, also known as Olumi Agberi, the current world record-holder in the men 65kg weightlifting category and 2016 Paralympic games gold medalist died yesterday, 18 November 2021. It was confirmed that he died at the age of 33 after a brief illness by Fred Edoreh, a media personnel working with the Nigeria Paralympic Federation.
He died five weeks after being given a month ban by the international Paralympic committee for violating anti-doping rules.
Some of Kehindes’ accomplishments incorporate breaking the world record twice with lifts of 218kg and 220kg and winning a Gold medal at the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games. He won a Silver medal at the 2011 World Championship, then Gold at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, another Gold at the Mexico World Championship with a different universe record lift of 220kg,
He won Silver at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, Australia, and Gold at the 2018 African championship and one more Gold at the 2018 FAZZA World Para-Powerlifting Championship.
